Quick, Less Mess, “Water Coloring”

We’ve been doing a lot of these “water coloring” projects in our house lately. It’s perfect for a toddler, coming together quickly and with less clean up than most painting projects!

Materials needed:
Watercolor paper – I bought a pack at Michaels
Crayola markers
A Ziploc baggie
Spray bottle with water
Paper towels

Have your child color/scribble on one side of the baggie with several colors. Take a spray bottle and spray a little water on the baggie. The marker will bead up on the baggie. Then place the paper down on top of the colored water. Holding the paper and baggie together, carefully flip them over so that the baggie is now on top of the paper, with the water in between. Use your fingers to push the colors around. Then remove the baggie and blot the excess liquid off the paper. (You can wipe the baggie with a paper towel and reuse it as well!) Allow to dry and then use as desired! So far we have made birthday cards and gift tags with ours.
